Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi has claimed that he had convinced Trinamul Congress president and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to support the Samaikyandhra and oppose bifurcation of the state.
Mamata, who is actually a supporter of Telangana state, has gone back on the same following the fresh demand for Gorkhaland state within West Bengal. She is very much confident of her party coming to power in West Bengal in the next elections; and at this stage, if the Telangana formation leads to Gorkhaland agitation, all her plans of ruling the West Bengal would be lost. Hence, she is opposing the formation of Telangana.
So there is nothing new that Chiranjeevi had achieved. But he wants to gain some popularity at the national level. Hence, he is giving the impression that he could succeed in convincing Mamata Banerjee. Alpa Santoshi!
