Three years back, when Asin used to be the numero uno of Tamil cinema, she had refused to wear glamourous costumes or show her mid-riff, even in songs.

She used to insist on attaching a piece of cloth to her blouse, in front, to hide her belly button! And now, the big news is that she is all set to wear a bikini in her forthcoming Bollywood film Housefull-2!

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed the news to a Mumbai tabloid and is quoted as saying- “Yes it is. The film will be shot at places like Italy and Greece and such costumes are necessary for this script.”

In another interview Sajid is quoted as saying: “Our script demanded her in a new look, which will surprise the audience completely”.

Leading Mumbai designer Aki Narula, who designed Aishwarya Rai’s bikini in Dhoom 2, will design for Asin too. She will, reportedly, be seen in sizzling swimwear and sexy sarongs.

It is clearly the Kochi girl’s survival tactics in Bollywood, where she is finding the going real tough.

After that super hit Ghajini, Asin had a colossal flop London Dreams with Salman Khan. Her competitors who debuted along with her in the same year,  Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma are now miles ahead of her.

As of now Asin has Ready, a remake of Uthamaputhiran opposite Salman Khan coming up for release on May 27.

Her only other project is Houseful -2, where she will share the glamour portion with two other heroines.

It wasn’t just any audio launch but that of Tamil film “Rettaichuzhi” produced by Shankar, who is directing her opposite superstar Rajnikanth in “Endhiran: The Robot”.

Draped in a white sari, Aishwarya was at her courteous best at Sathyam Cinemas Monday evening as she got up to greet veteran directors K. Balachander and Bharathiraaja who play pivotal roles in the film.

Shankar said it was great to have Aishwarya as she hardly attended audio launches. He recalled that the former beauty queen wasn’t present for the launch of his “Jeans”, one of her first hit films.

“When we explained to her the significance of ‘Rettaichuzhi’ and the cast of the film, she immediately agreed. It’s not just her beauty but her commitment towards her profession, which has made her a great actress,” Shankar said.

The audio cassettes and CDs of “Rettaichuzhi” were released by Aishwarya and accepted by noted lyricist Vairamuthu, who once described her as a “Taj Mahal weighing 50 kilograms” in one of his lyrics for the film “Jeans”.

Aishwarya said she was proud to be part of the Tamil film fraternity and took many by surprise when she spoke in fluent Tamil and later switched backed to English.

“It’s an honour for me to have been present at this place among legends like Balachander and Bharathiraaja and I feel proud about it. I also feel happy that a woman is treated so respectfully at a public function like this,” she said.

“I can never forget the Tamil film industry and director Shankar in my life. Shankar’s ‘Jeans’ was my first successful film. The many things I learnt during the making of the film gave me enough self-confidence that I could continue to act for a few more years.

“I feel even more proud to be part of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ opposite superstar Rajnikanth…I watched a few songs and some sequences from ‘Rettaichuzhi’…I think Karthick Raaja’s music and tunes are excellent. I would surely watch the film in future,” Aishwarya added.

The veteran director Mani Ratnam’s much waited and expected bilingual movie ‘Raavana’ release is again going to be delayed.Already we heard before that Mani Ratnam had planned to release the movie on May 21 but the latest buzz is that the movie is going to hit the theatres on June 18.

The production house Big Pictures who owns the rights of both Abhishek-Aishwarya-Vikram starrer ‘Raavana’ and Hrithik-Barbara starrer ‘Kites’ is in tight spot on the release dates of the movies.

The director Mani Ratnam planned to release the movie on May 21 but he was very much upset about the release because the production house has alloted the date to Hrithik’s Kites.

Let’s hope the movie to get the release date as per the announcement made before!

Successful director Shankar is making a Science Fiction film titled “Robot” with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles. This film is being made with a huge budget as there are many special visual effects that have to be incorporated in the film. Rajinikanth reportedly plays the role of a scientist in the film. Shankar’s Robot, which is being made in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English is likely to be released world-wide by the Hollywood entertainment major HBO.
